Flamingo Short Story

The Life of a Flamingo
by Chance Lindenberg
There once was a flamingo named French Fry. He had the brightest feathers, the longest nose, and the longest legs. Everyone called him Fry for short. Fry tried to join a group of flamingos that were feeding. But he could not fit in, literally he was too big. So instead of trying to fit in, he stood at the tallest point to block the hot summer light. All the others yelled and hollered insults at Fry, but that did not move him. So everyone left.
Fry immediately ran to the small lake and scarfed down all the shrimp he could get until something started pulling him towards the group that was slowly making there way to the next closest lake. He knew that it was his flamingo instinct telling him to go back to the group that was now nearly one hundred feet from the next lake. All the flamingos had; it you were born with it. He thought and thought...
Then all of a sudden two giant doves jumped on his neck. The doves were named Big Mac and Mcnugget. Big Mac was Fry's old friend from the zoo where he used to live. Mcnugget was new; he had never met him. All Fry could look at was the giant chicken nugget he was carrying. Mcnugget explained they were flying south for the winter and was he holding the nugget, which he had found on the way, for warmth until they got out of the area. Big Mac corrected him and said that Mcnugget was insane and they were going to a nearby lake. Then they flew off.
As Fry went down for one more shrimp he thought to himself,''it's not even close to winter yet.'' suddenly something grabbed his nose, pulled his head down into the mud and Fry drowned instantly.
